In the Arabic mafia game Gangs of Mafia you start on the street at rank Lowlife, and every crime, theft, deal and mission gives you XP that raises your rank. The game has 14 ranks, and each one unlocks new crimes, thefts and pages.

Next to XP there is respect: it comes from kills, jail breaks, the nightclub, missions and sabotage, and it raises your strength in fights.

How to rank up fast
- Do crimes every time the timer ends; they are the fastest XP at the start.
- Steal bikes, then cars; every successful theft adds XP and respect.
- Trade between cities: buying in one city and selling in another gives profit and XP.
- Finish the special missions and the daily job missions; their prizes are big.
- Join a gang: organised crime and organised missions need a team and pay more.
New players are protected for their first 3 days: nobody can kill or kidnap them.
What each rank unlocks
A rank is more than a label next to your name: every step opens new parts of the game. The main ones:
- Thug: the Swiss Federal Bank, whose balance stays with you even after you die.
- Mobster: creating your own gang, and sabotage, and the military base.
- Kingpin: kidnapping and the antiques trade, the most profitable trade per trip.
- Basha: the last rank that comes from XP alone. After it, your gang must control a city.
- Invincible National Basha: the top rank in the game, and the only one that can build the mobile cannon and the nuclear reactor.

The higher your rank, the more city zones you can own, and zones are what let your gang control a city:

XP or respect?
XP raises your rank and opens crimes and pages; respect raises your fighting strength and the size your mafia family can reach. Strong players build both: crimes, thefts and trade for XP, and kills, jail breaks, the nightclub and missions for respect.
If you are killed you start a new character from the first rank, but your respect rank, your points and your Swiss bank balance stay with you.
